VINBESKRIVELSE:

Terre Brune fremstilles af 95% Carignano fra gamle planter, der suppleres med 5% af den lokale Bovaleddu. Carignano kendes måske især fra Priorato og fra Languedoc-Roussillon og det sydlige Rhône, hvor den ofte anvendes som blandingssort. I Terre Brune viser druen sine mest fortrinlige og dramatiske kvaliteter som demonstrerer at den klarer sig fremragende i Sulcis-distriktet i Cagliari. Carignano til Terre Brune dyrkes traditionelt, på fritstående, buskede upodede gamle planter, franco di piede, dvs på fri fod, modsat piede rupestris, dvs podet på amerikansk fod eller rodstok, vitis rupestris. Dette er muligt fordi jorden her er så sandet, at det beskytter mod angreb fra vin-lus. De mere end 100 år gamle planter vokser på Santadis mest favoriserede jorder i Sulcis, hvor de yder en af Sardiniens største og mest anmelderroste vine.

"Made with 95% Carignano and 5% Bovaleddu, this is one of the icon wines from Sardinia. The Cantina Santadi 2020 Carignano del Sulcis Superiore Terre Brune is a darkly concentrated expression with a rich texture and profound depth. There is a modern side to the wine delivered with well-integrated oak that shows toast and sweet spice, but the dark berry flavors of Carignano are given ample room to shine alongside the earthy lift of Bovaleddu. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel, with secondary fermentation in cement, and the wine ages in barrique for 18 months. The vineyards cover 50 hectares of sandy soils in Sulcis on Sardinia’s southwestern coast, where coastal sands and persistent Mediterranean winds favor deeply rooted vines and concentrated fruit. The front label depicts a nuraghe, the mysterious prehistoric stone towers scattered across Sardinia’s archaeological landscapes. This wine is quite powerful with a notable 15% alcohol content and firm tannic structure. Production totals 90,000 bottles, released with various lot numbers."
